MPhil & Ph.D. Viva Voce Examination Conducted by the Faculty of Graduate Studies

The Faculty of Graduate Studies of the Nāgānanda International Institute for Buddhist Studies (NIIBS) successfully conducted the Viva Voce Examination for candidates enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree programmes in Buddhist Studies on 24 July 2026 at 10.00 a.m. at the Institute premises.

The candidates who presented their theses were Ven. Sundarananda Thera, Ms. S. B. Kalyani, and Mr. Kaumal De Silva.

The examination panel was chaired by Emeritus Professor Asanga Tilakaratne, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The panel comprised Ven. Dr. Dampe Vijitharathana Thera: Deputy Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies, Senior Professor Uditha Garusinghe: University of Kelaniya, Professor Wimal Hewamanage: University of Colombo, Professor Anura Rathnasekara: University of the Visual and Performing Arts, Dr. D. D. Senadheera: Scientific Assistant- Faculty of Graduate Studies, NIIBS and Dr. Kumari Madanayake: Head of the Department of Practical Buddhism.

The event was attended by members of the Maha Sangha, academic staff, and local and international postgraduate students. The successful conduct of the Viva Voce Examination reflected the Institute’s continued commitment to promoting academic excellence and advancing research in the field of Buddhist Studies.
