The Special Guest Lecture was held on 19th August 2025 at Nagananda International Institute for Buddhist Studies, organized by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Faculty of Buddhist Studies.
The event featured a special guest lecture by Dr. Kalinga Seneviratne, an Australian Journalist, Radio broadcaster, Television documentary maker, and International communication specialist. Founder of Lotus Communication Network & former Head of Research of the Asian Media Information and Communication Center (AMIC) in Singapore. PhD in International Communication (Macquarie University, Australia) & Main Social Sciences (UTS, Australia). He has edited a number of books on journalism, community media, development communications and popular music. Author of ‘Global News Media: Countering Western Hegemony in International News (Atlantic, 2025), ‘Geopolitics and the Media in Asia and the Pacific: Pulling in Different Directions (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2024), ‘Myth of Free Media and Fake News in the Post-truth Era (SAGE, 2020), Empowering from Within: Path to Protect Buddhism in Asia (LCN 2020).
The guest lecture was graced by the presence of Ven. Dampe Vijitharathana Thera, Deputy Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies, as well as Emeritus Professor Asanga Tilakaratne, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, along with the Venerable Maha Sangha, distinguished academics, students and invited guests. The gathering created an engaging platform for meaningful scholarly dialogue and academic exchange in the field of Buddhist Studies.
